Some Thoughts on Peace

I was listening to a message yesterday morning as I cleaned through the house and came across this thought...

"Prayer is not about changing God, but about changing me, because THAT is where the peace comes."

It reminded me of something that Amy Carmichael once wrote....

"It is not in forgetting that peace is found
It is not in trying that peace is found
It is not in indiference that peace is found
It is not even in submision that peace is found
It is rather in acceptance that peace is found."

I then thought of two of my favorite passages of Scripture....

"Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding..." Proverbs 3:5

"Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. Be careful for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:4-7

Aaron has been memorizing a verse this week in Prov. 1:7 where we are reminded that the
"...fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge:..."
If we truly believe that God is who he says He is and that His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, how arrogant we are to question His plans. Out of His lovingkindness, He does promise peace in difficult times, but we must first accept that His will is best. Then, and only then, can the peace come.
